Our Charter

Whereas

the magnificent and noble area known as Tejas, from long before and ever after statehood, has attracted an astonishing conglomeration of people -- conquistadors, settlers, cowboys, tourists, outlaws, soldiers, slaves, truckers, Commanches, rangers, scoundrels, and traveling salesmen -- and most of them left things behind, everything from litter to buried treasure...

Whereas

for hundreds of years those people from many lands, territories, and lesser states have brought with them the finest furniture, accessories, artwork, inventions, jewelry, and other prized possessions of interest, plus a bit of junk...

Whereas

those creative and industrious citizens, artists, inventors, craftsmen, scholars, and others of every type have created innumerable worthy and desirable articles of interest and value...

Whereas

those artifacts, etc., have been passed down, hidden, hoarded, or cast aside by ranchers, railroad men, prospectors, astronauts, presidents, horse thiefs, oil men, bikers, and missionaries -- but along the way somehow were rediscovered...

Be it known

that the inestimable merchants hereafter known collectively as the ladies of Vintage Antiques & Snazzy Things, in the remote West Tejas village of Alpine, are hereby declared the official repository for all such articles so deemed to be worthy.
